HIPAA Information

Bucks County is pleased to announce that the Bucks County Division of Human Services (BCDHS) has become a covered entity under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). As a covered entity, BCDHS will follow federal standards set by HIPAA to protect the privacy and security of your health information. BCDHS has always prioritized the privacy, confidentiality, and security of its clients, but now we are taking additional steps to safeguard your protected health information and increase care coordination amongst BCDHS departments. As BCDHS undergoes this evolution, we will maintain our commitment to client confidentiality while seeking new ways to meet client needs and better serve the community.

If you would like to learn more about our covered entity status, please read our notice of privacy practices.

In addition to becoming a covered entity, BCDHS is also taking the next steps in delivering person-centered care by adopting a more holistic and integrated service model with CURA. CURA is a centralized database used by BCDHS to coordinate care within the covered entity. CURA will also assist in providing population level data to aid in evaluating BCDHS programs and highlighting emerging community needs.

If you are a BCDHS client and would like to opt out of CURA, please complete the opt out form.

We take our responsibility to protect your privacy seriously and will continue to do so as a covered entity. If you have any questions or concerns about how we handle your health information, please don’t hesitate to email us at HIPAA@BucksCounty.org or by writing to the following address:
