Screening, Assessment and Referral
Staff at the assessment site will first screen the individual for any emergent care needs before moving forward with the LOCA. If any emergent care are identified and require immediate attention, the individual will be referred to the appropriate services. The screening includes evaluating the need for the following:

  • Withdrawal management for those experiencing withdrawal symptoms
  • Psychiatric care for individuals that share thoughts of harm to self or others
  • Prenatal care due to complications that may require emergency care

After the screening, the staff will move forward with scheduling and completing the LOCA. The LOCA will determine if treatment is recommended and what level of care is appropriate. The staff at the assessment site are responsible for connecting the individual to treatment services after completing the LOCA.

Pregnant women will receive preferential treatment in all levels of care and if treatment is indicated be offered immediate access to treatment.
